Project Accountant II

ZGF is seeking a Project Accountant II for the New York office. We are looking for a self-directed individual with excellent communication and support skills.

As a Project Accountant II, you will…

  • Work closely with assigned Project Managers assisting as requested and directed with problem solving, research, accounts receivable collections, spreadsheet preparation, etc.
  • Assign / set up new project numbers
  • Read and set up client contract parameters (fees, billing basis, consultant costs, expenses, markups)
  • Read and set up consultant contract parameters (fees, billing basis, expenses, markups)
  • Set up project billing and contract files; maintain in current status
  • Data entry of new and revised budgets
  • Prepare consultant invoices for review by Project Managers
  • Consultant invoice data entry
  • Prepare / send notices to consultants regarding invoice adjustments, fee authorizations, etc.
  • Prepare and send draft billings to Project Managers for review and approval
  • Make changes, corrections and transfers as requested
  • Prepare final invoices (for review by Project Managers, if requested)
  • Pull, match and attach accurate backup to invoices
  • File copies of monthly invoices in project files.  Keep all filing in current status
  • Prepare project status reports as requested by Project Managers
  • Close / purge inactive projects
  • Download special data into Excel as requested
  • Assist Project Managers in operation of financial software applications and procedures when necessary
  • Prepare the monthly Project Tracking Monitor Report
  • Create custom reports in Vision as requested
  • Attend staff meetings and project management meetings whenever scheduled
  • Contribute wherever, whenever and however possible to ensure the successful efforts of the Business Office


  • Experienced in general accounting procedures
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years Project Accountant experience
  • Proficient in the following software applications: – Microsoft Word, Outlook, Advanced Excel – Deltek Vision, Adobe Acrobat / Bluebeam
  • Must be articulate with excellent communication skills and writing abilities, able to interact effectively with employees and Partners of the firm
  • Must possess ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion with regard to project, business and personnel matters
  • Must possess a strong work ethic and ability to respond with urgency to requests in a fast paced work environment
  • Knowledge of architectural / engineering terminology a plus
